OPEN WATER

The freedom of swimming in open water, is like nothing else. I began swimming again as an adult in 2007 in Lake Washington or Xacuabš in (Lushootseed), which borders Seattle’s eastern edge. It is a large ribbon lake fed primarily by the Sammamish & Cedar Rivers. In 2019 I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and the lake has become a spiritual place of healing for me. This project is an attempt to capture the feeling of being in open water.
